We had a very nice stay at the Moose Twin cottage. It was perfect for our trip to Homer. My folks had their own room, kitchen and bath as we did. The outside rap around deck was very nice which allowed us to visit. Anne has done a fantastic job with the decor. If you want to experience a flavor of Alaska with great views of the Kachemak Bay and Homer Spit, you would be hard pressed to find a better experience. That and the fact that we limited out on Halibut both days well before noon made it a trip we will remember.

There are three cabins on the property. We booked the "small" one which was barely enough room to walk around the beds and small kitchenette. The only interior door was on the bathroom. As we went for dinner Mrs. Anne said we could move to the two moose cabin since the other family was delayed. This was a much bigger room. It was two separate units that did not connect on the interior. One room had one bed, kitchenette, and bathroom. The other side had two beds, kitchenette, and bathroom. The 3 of us stayed in the one with 2 beds. It had a musty smell (a candle or plug in freshener would have gone a long way).... Mrs. Anne was very kind when we checked in and asked about our fishing the next day. Mr. Alex came by to make sure we knew how to start the oil burning heater. It kept the room very warm and nice! The windows did not have black our curtains so it was bright in there a long time which made it hard to fall asleep.
Overall, it was a nice place. You are on the hill so you have a great view of the ocean and the spit.

We spent four nights in the Kelly House in early August and can highly recommend the place. The Kelly House sits just above the Wild Rose main compound so it has some of the best views on the property. It's a full split level home with plenty of room to spread out and it's on the hill just east of town, close to all the action but just far enough removed to be away from it all.||||The main level has a full kitchen, living area and half bath, half a flight up is another living area, plus a bedroom with laundry area and an additional loft. Up another half flight of stairs are two bedrooms, full bath and an outside covered deck that runs the full width of the house...a great place to watch the sun go down on the Chugach Mountains and Kachemak Bay! (You get very similar views on the main level as well) The house also sits on a HUGE lot, so the kids have a lot of room to roam. The décor is a little dated, but very comfortable.||||Anne Haynes, the woman who rents the property out is extremely helpful and accommodating. I don't think she even asked for a deposit, which in Alaska with their short tourist season is pretty much a given, and understandably so. In fact, most of the places we stayed on our two and a half week visit required non-refundable deposits of up to half the total cost of our reservation. The rates are pretty reasonable and there was a discount for stays of four days or longer so make sure you ask about that...although I'm sure Anne will offer that to you whether you ask or not. All in all a very nice stay!

The cabins reminded me of old hunting camps back in PA. It was a beautiful property with great and unseen potential by the owners (They are a great older couple!) The cabins are older but so quaint and again reminded me of PA. The cabins could REALLY use having the carpet being pulled and putting down or using the wood underneath. The carpet got so dirty from all the grass that got tracked in from the yard and some from our pants (we did take our shoes off outside) and the damp smell ( not TOO bad) was just from the carpet as everything was clean. We stayed in the adjoining cabins with our friends. The prices are very reasonable and they allow pets. It would be great to see them do some updates and maybe add a Fire pit between the three cabins and replace the picnic table under the tree. We had a great time and would return but again, there is marked room for improvements and updates. They allow pets which was very cool and their own dogs do run around on the property and we great with the kids

After two+ weeks of fairly scheduled flying and driving around Alaska we'd planned to have an end of vacation chill-down time for 5 days in Homer before heading back to the UK, and wanted a slightly more spacious, comfortable, home-from-home type of place from which to do a bit of bear watching and play it by ear. In booking The Kelly House at Wild Rose Cottages we could not have made a better choice.||||The booking process (which, in retrospect, we were wise enough to start last year to secure the booking) was a bit like a combination of the first class efficiency of an Asian 5* with a couple of e-mails/telephone calls home to your mum. The owner, Anne Haynes, was just a pleasure to deal with from well prior to our arrival to our departure. She met us on arrival, walked up to the house with my wife and daughter whilst I drove round to the private parking with our gear, and didn't check up on us until we went to see her on departure (trust in people is such a nice human trait).||||As for The Kelly House,itself... ||||Location: about 10-15 minutes drive from Homer Spit, 10 minutes from the town, beautiful views, absolutely no sense of being in tourist territory.||||House: nothing pretentious, but it simply has everything you could want if you want to feel at home. Warm, cosy, comfortable (great beds and bedding with plenty of clothes storage), loooads of space, well equipped kitchen, upper balcony accessed from both the main upstairs bedrooms, private parking, fire-pit on the extensive sloping lawn, really comfortable and relaxing family TV area where we'd doze off...||||Until my wife started pointing at the TV urgently. Could it be that US TV had something we couldn't live without seeing? Nope, it was just that she was pointing at the window where a female moose was looking in on us, before leading her calves down past the house (see picture).||||We feel really privileged to have stayed here, and The Kelly House completed our vacation perfectly. Thanks Anne!

Excellent in every regard. Highly recommended. Despite the climb to the top of our “treehouse cabin”, the privacy, views, and accommodations were all superb. Close to Homer Spit and still makes you fell like you are in real Alaska.
