DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN!!!!! Allow me to explain. My family and I stayed there for several weeks. While we were there, they charged our card over 10 times. They pulled out more money than the room was supposed to be charged for. At one point, they had OVER $1400 more than the price of the room was for the whole stay. And 3 or 4 days after we checked out of the hotel, they charged us again for another $523. I've worked on the road for over 3 years now, and I have NEVER had a hotel charge me 10 times of various amounts, and then overcharge me $1400. It is absolutely unacceptable to take that amount of money from a family over 1000 miles from home. We were not anticipating that amount of money being pulled from our bank. In the end, they have over $600 more than what the room was supposed to be. The owners of this establishment need to be reported to the BBB and audited for their corrupt business practices. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

The main issue here is poor noise insulation in the rooms. We were constantly hearing doors slamming and the ceiling vibrating from people above (even several rooms away!). They clearly cheaped out with the building's construction. The A/C unit is also very noisy to the point where we literally turned it off at night in order to get some sleep. All things considered here, not a great experience. I feel a quiet, restful night sleep is the very basic requirement of a hotel, and this place failed in my book.

Other things to note: There was no hair dryer in the room, and they charge nearly $9 for two small bottles of water! That's far too greedy. Be sure to stop at a grocery store beforehand if you do stay here.

As for positives, the staff were very friendly, and the location is excellent.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

My partner and I were delighted with our stay from top to bottom! Across two days and both shifts, the front desk and housekeeping staff were attentive and gracious, helping us out of a couple of quirky binds (a special shout-out to Faith, Vianey, Debbie and Cheryl, as well as the morning desk associate who helped us smooth the way with another issue.) Unassuming but immaculate, this was a perfect place to post up for a few days. The property is well-maintained and conveniently located, within spitting distance of a gas station and late-night dining. A bonus/pleasant surprise: the breathtaking daytime/afternoon view of the surrounding mountains! I'd happily stay here again.

Gym was decent, breakfast was great, Cherryl was great. Rooms were clean and smelled very nice. I loved how quiet it was and not packed. It's like a hidden gem.

Positive: Hotel appears to be clean. It's a nice resting point w shopping and food close by. Negative: Front office staff not attentive to a security problem that was happening late at nite. Would not check a back door ooen to hotel that I closed myself. She made rounds every half hr,but when told door was open, sat at front desk on phone/computer.

Most important first the good...
The staff:
The staff were absolutely great, very friendly, very kind. Definitely didn't have any issues there. They were extremely accommodating because I was traveling with my ESA, therapy dog, and was the first hotel that had a sign specific to animals to warn hotel staff that the animal was unattended in the room. I highly appreciated that.

The hotel:
The hotel is in a semi undeveloped part of Tehachapi, on the northern side of the 58, but it was a decent location and the grounds were well maintained. The view of the mountains was lovely and it had enough lighting for dark walls with my ESA. The hotel was clean and they even offered fruit flavored water, which was really nice. The hotel is pet friendly, which is always something I appreciate anymore. And they had ample dog waste stations. The parking was decent. They had a nice outdoor seating area, an indoor pool, and fitness room.

Now, the not good....

The room:
The cleaning staff was understaffed when we arrived, so we definitely let slide that there were previous occupant food items in the fridge and no bathroom handsoap.

Was EXTREMELY glad the designer, or whomever, ordered the correct opening side for the fridge for that room. It's a hotel room, there's not a lot of space.... So a fridge that opens in the correct direction is a big deal.

The beds were extremely uncomfortable, but unlike a different hotel, at least the bedding was clean. The bathroom door opened into the room and opened the wrong way, so you'd have to wedge yourself between the corner of the wall and the nightstand to get into the bathroom door and it barely cleared the bed.

Instead of hanging the TV on the center wall between the two beds, at the feet, it was hung on the bathroom wall, which was completely uncomfortable to watch from many places in the room. Especially the seat or far/window side bed.

The breakfast:
We got a late start on Sunday and decided to try the breakfast and it was.... Absolutely gross. I realize we were at the tail end of the breakfast service times... But.... The sausage was burnt, over cooked, and dry, the eggs were very gross. There was no coffee and no creamer. It was a huge disappointment and we left to go spend additional funds at a local restaurant instead.

The restaurant:
Hotels typically charge a higher price on the weekend... And your restaurant is closed on the weekends? That is a huge missed opportunity and extremely surprising. So what am I paying a premium for on the weekend stay?

Overall, if I'd read the reviews before booking the stay, I can't say I'd have picked this hotel. I have extremely high expectations of Marriott TownePlace locations, especially because it's one of the Marriott that comes with a higher price tag... and this one didn't quite hit the mark. As a silver bonvoy member, I am mildly disappointed with the stay but extremely thankful for the kind, friendly, and professional staff.

This was a very nice place, roomy, all amenities included, and overall pretty clean. I felt so disgusted when seeing the dishes in the room though and the dishwasher working but not cleaning the dishes. TownePlace gave me points equivalent to 1/2 of a nights' worth to make up for this experience. I had paid for 3 days on this trip.
