It used to be decent before the pandemic of 2020. It went downhill once they started using the Navigation Center for Tenants. Now they use it as a semi mental asylum and halfway house for paroles along with Families and individuals who just fell down on their luck & couldn't afford $3000 a month for a real apartment. The management is non-existing except for once a month inspections. If you have belongings and keep them instead of selling everything you own for drugs then they automatically accuse you of being a hoarder and demand you get rid of the things you purchased new instead of realizing that it is impossible for a person who isn't trying to die there to live comfortably in a hotel room with no kitchen permanently. Especially when 1/3 of the items in your room are items that normally would live in a kitchen cabinet. There are no shelves or storage just a closet and a bed and then they write you up and call your belongings trash because you dont have anywhere to put them out of view. The elevator is constantly broken and the washing machines barely get your clothes clean and no change machine therefore making it difficult to do your laundry which takes up 1/4 of the space and 1/4 of the space for clean clothes. They have a mice problem so you end up with a cat which will take up about 1/3 of the room with their kitty stuff. After being insulted and repeatedly treated like your a 3 rd class human by the upper management who's only concern is what to do with your body if you die there ( even tho you aren't terminally ill) and told you have too much stuff ( but really it's that the 150sq ft hotel rm room is too small for your living enjoyment). You are again compared to a hoarder that has a 3 bed room house, a kitchen and a backyard full of stuff). You were tricked into thinking a hotel was a good idea as permanent housing when really a hotel room is not a place to live for over 5 yrs especially if that person is a musician, artist & someone w/hobbies who is creative that has been going to school for sound/video & need music, video, photography gear, & use computers to work and spends most of their time at home due to social anxieties & lack of car because of no parking permits exist for the Tenderloin, most of your time you spend @ home (these things take up the rest of the room). There are shared kitchens which are disgusting and the food you put in the refrigerators gets stolen. You attempt to resolve the matter with a reasonable accomodations signed by your Doctor to move to one of the 1 bedrooms in the building only to have some new Home rise Supervisor tell you " They don't care about the reasonable accomodations" and totally dismissing you ever did file the papers 2 months prior with the manager who quit, and was left totally ignored without getting an answer. I attempted to resolve the " Hoarding" issue by requesting a unit ( which they had available) that is reasonably sized enough for my living enjoyment.
Besides that...it's great and the Homerise staff is really helpful and cares....if you going to die there that they can carry you body out!😂 I forgot to mention the walls leak and bubbles up from water damage.

This is a SRO. You know the drill... show your ID upon entry at the "security desk", stays past 11 pm require the resident requesting an overnight stay, some of the residents may have challenges interacting in socially positive ways, etc., etc. So in a way is almost like jail away from jail but not quite. It is what it is.

Second floor resident Jesse Brown says the Senator Hotel is a wonderful place to reside. The rates are reasonable enough that Jesse has been able to tuck away $360,000 in a safety deposit box. Has also enabled him to experience vacations back and forth to all his properties in Alaska and Tacoma Washington. Vacationed in Reno and won $125,000 what a lucky day. Mr. Brown has suggested on social media the Senator Hotel was a fantastic reasonable place for individuals looking to hide their pot of gold and live on Easy Street. This Jesse guy is just a genius, It never occurred to me to hide money in a safety-deposit box completely off radar amazing.

Beautiful garden with amazing murals and a big mosaic of a hummingbird. Gigantic redwood trees 🌲🐿️ and a stag fern make this hidden gem stand apart.
