I want to shout out and recognize the staff at Hotel Mac, more specifically Desiree, Blanca, and the wait staff in the restaurant. This weekend I wanted to propose to my girlfriend and once I disclosed that to them, they went above and beyond the typical courtesy and expectations to ensure that our special occasion would be memorable. I cannot express enough gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Hotel Mac, as well as the ambience of this historic gem. This past weekend was absolutely majestic and we will be back for sure!!!!

We arrived after a 12 hour flight dead tired only to find we were in an apartment backed onto the major shunting, unloading, marshalling yard for the port city’s freight trains. They began the most horrendous banging, grinding and clanging at 10.30 pm. And went on at regular intervals throughout the night. There was no double glazing or any measures to mitigate the noise. Even my husband who is severely deaf could not slip event without his hearing aids. Needless to say we had very little sleep and proceeded to complain and checkout the next morning, even though we had paid for several days in advance. The manager came to discuss it with us and said if she had been told we didn’t like train noise she could have put us in another room! There is nowhere within 5 miles they could have put us in another room and still sleep through that amount of noise! (The telltale point was that two pairs of sponge earplugs in plastic wrappers were provided by the hotel on the bedside table! )She said as it was booked through Expedia she could not refund our money for the nights we were going to miss, we would have to take it up with Expedia, which we have done since we got home, but Expedia say the hotel has to pay. We seem to have nowhere to go from this impasse.

Planning an event at the BiancoVerde Restaurant is wonderful to say the least. Blanca, who manages events is one of the most wonderful individuals. We planned an 80th birthday event with 30 people, and it was more than worth the money. The service was fantastic, and so was the food. It would never have been so incredible without Blanca's help. Although we has last minutes changes, she accommodated everything to make this even one that everyone said was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion event.

Touchless hotel was a new experience. Received a call, text, and email just before checkin time that provided codes for the building, room, and parking lot.

All worked exceedingly well. Room was quaint with a fireplace and stocked bookshelf with nice leather lounger to read in.

Room was very clean, bed was firm, and pillows could be mixed and matched to find desired firmness. Lots of hot water in the AM showers. Short walk to 3rd floor landing for ice machine and microwave. Water in room refrigerator was nice.

Good location with food, stores, and coffee close by. Evening were walkable around the 3 block area. But...area may not be everyone's cup of tea.

It's in Point Richmond, so safer than Richmond proper. I wouldn't recommend walking around after dark. Rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable.

We stayed in the carriage building and found the room to be clean and well appointed. Location was perfect and the instructions to gain entry were straightforward. The food in the restaurant at the main hotel (just a few yards away) was fantastic! One addition I would like to suggest would be to have a safe available in the rooms otherwise I would recommend this property to anyone without hesitation and will definitely return!
