Great place to stay! Walk out the door and right into a great coffee shop! Super clean and comfy. (Only thing to know is that during the day, there are happy cafe noises and music coming from the cafe below. But, it is totally quiet at night). Would definitely recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary. The room was very spacious, clean and decorated beautifully. Our bed was very comfortable and the restroom was huge. My favorite part was the view of the Nevada City Town. It looked like a Hallmark movie and everyone was so friendly. Our access was so easy and the rental process was very convenient. I hope to return soon, we had a wonderful time.

Loved staying here, it was easy to access, room was cute and clean. And it’s located right in the heart of the little downtown Nevada City shopping/ main strip! For sure will be back 🙂 just keep in mind this is much like an Airbnb in the sense that there is no one working at the location. It’s just PIN code access in and out. For the most part that was fine.

Beautiful rooms, great beds and linens. Convenient coffee and food downstairs. Location can't be beat. Host was very helpful at check in. Stairs can be a challenge for some especially with lots of luggage. Our group (all over 75) managed but the stairs are steep so I wouldn't recommend to someone with a handicap.

Located in the center of town. Great rehab of an old historic building. Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Good thing ear plugs were provided, because the room was on the main corner with some lively Saturday night activity below. Fun experience and would definitely book at 1856 again.

We visited Nevada City and stayed at the 1856 Speakeasy in one of their rooms. The directions were very clear, it was easy to get in and access our room, things were done very nicely in the room itself. The location is awesome given that it is central to Nevada City--everything is walkable from the room. Great spot!

The Speakeasy was the perfect choice for what we needed. We were in town for a wedding, stayed one night and we could of stayed longer. The location was a cute little, old school downtown, every place we ate was soooo good. We would definitely stay here again, but I would reserve the king suite instead of the regular queen room. The queen room was a little small for two adults, but was clean & well put together by the owners to make it comfortable.

Downtown Nevada city. Right in the heart of town. It's a beautiful place. Loud cafe downstairs plays annoying music early in the morning on Sunday. They give you earplugs, but there has got to be a better way. No big deal though. Had a bit of trouble with the entry code. Management was very quick to fix it. I would stay again. Weekday rate is 200 weekend is 400. Overpriced but still enjoyed every moment of it. Great bathtub and shower! Great location, comfy bed. Especially for couples. Small balcony to look at the town from. Loved it. Great memories.
