My wife and I had a fire in our home in early December of 2024, we had to find somewhere to stay until it was fixed. I decided to stay at Sutter Inn. The staff was great, the price was very good. Ivy is one of the staff that works the front desk and after she learned of what happened to my family before the Holidays, Ivy tried very hard to accommodate us and give us a better rate. Ivy is very professional and very friendly. I would recommend the Sutter Inn.

I was in town for a funeral & stayed three miserable nights at the Sutter Inn. The room was acceptable but the number of what I assume were homeless occupying what looked like most of the hotel rooms made my stay sleepless, uneasy, & concerned about my safety.
I was on the third floor so I had to step over people, & some of their trash going upstairs to my room. Two small children were sitting unsupervised every day in the hallway. The parking lot, each night & every day, was a noisy hub of sketchy activity with people in and out all night, hanging out blocking the front entrance, arguing, screaming, sitting in cars, vans, & motorhomes. Inside was no better, day & night, slamming of room doors, running up & down the hall, & arguing. I know the front desk staff could hear this activity. I did not eat their continental breakfast because I was concerned about cleanliness.
Your first priority should be the safety, room cleanliness, & comfort of your guests. The staff were ok but I think they were unsure how to deal with all of the unknown people. I do not recommend Sutter Inn nor will I ever stay there again.

My trip started off with a 2 night stay at Sutter Inn. I picked this place because of the internet AI summary and the reviews.
That's the good part of the story.
Friday night we got there after a 500 mile trip in the rain and wind. We ran into the lobby. Everything was fine, got our room #219. No elevator so we used the stairs. Signs said rooms 201-218. Should have been our first warning. Got to the room, the door wasn't latched, there was a trail of sticky liquid spilled from the dirty microwave to the door. The bathroom had been used. The mirror was hanging by one hook. Turned on the heater which was blinking change filter but it at least worked. Took the dirty bedspread off and put it over in the corner. Took the one towel they had in the room and cleaned the floor.
Yes, I know we did too much, but we were told that was the only room they had and we had reserved it 8 days prior.
Actually that was still the good part. Apparently there is a back side door, this is where all the homeless street people are allowed to use freely. Both nights were a horror movie unfolding. Little girls crying for mommy outside of bedroom doors. Bikes, wagons, bags of homeless belongings on the stairs and drug deals being made in the parking lot and hallways. Yelling all night long, the sound of walls being hit, furniture scraping back and forth and some man howling like a wolf all night long. Fire alarm going off, cops in the lobby, fire trucks and while all this was going on, people sneaking in through the door by the pool.
Two nights, nothing changed. We were in town for a funeral, I should have just stayed in my car. There should be a Enter at your own risk sign at the front door instead of a welcome sign. Never again.

We stayed here on 8.28.24 for the night, Lady in the morning/afternoon is so amazing, and she's so sweet, guy at night so cool, and awesome. The people who do live there are so nice, They have the coolest orange cat named Henry. If Henry is around make sure you stop and pet him, he's so sweet, and cute. They have breakfast in the morning, so many things to choose from, so enjoy.

Even tho it was one night, we did enjoy our stay. Thanks for a great night.

This is a no frills hotel. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, staff was very friendly and helpful. And Henry the cat will welcome you with a friendly purr.

The only let down was the "deluxe" continental breakfast. You're better off paying for coffee and a pastry at Starbucks.

Overall a good place to sleep if you're planning on visiting the area. And if you're planning on seeing a concert in Wheatland, this is the spot. Great location for half the price of closer accommodations.

Ivey is so nice I have been late a couple of times & she spared me extra time to make my payment to extend my stay. The rooms are clean & very well kept. They offer breakfast & shampoo/conditioner/lotion as room perk which I found very convenient. Highly recommend Sutter Inn❤️
