When we arrived in Burney, we stopped at each motel along the main street to check prices and room quality. All are old-fashioned motels with small, simply furnished rooms, and prices began at $75 and went to $99. We drove on through town, saw the Sleepy Hollow Lodge and stopped. The rooms were neither better nor worse than what we had seen as we drove through town, and the prices were better. Our room was small, comfortably furnished complete to microwave and refrigerator, and immaculately clean. The a/c functioned quietly and well. The young couple who run the lodge were friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant evening and a good night's sleep before continuing to McCloud and Burney Falls for a day of hiking. Note that this is not a luxury motel. It's very basic. There's no ice machine, no continental breakfast. It is a clean, comfortable, safe place to spend a night. If we are in Burney again, this is where we'll stay.

Stayed here for business.||Wondered over to the casino.||Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and the other people were happy and friendly also!||I know. You're thinking people who are in a casino usually are focused on their machines, cards etc.||Not there! All friendly.||The motel is cozy.||Microwave worked.||Fridge stayed cold.||Shower stayed hot.||Didn't need anything other than to check in.||But while we did.||The management was warm, friendly and very informative about local attractions.||Enjoy the stay peeps.||Tell'em Ann sent you. ❤

I don't post reviews generally, but this place was amazing in how many shortcuts the owners are taking. Not even a washcloth. Not a blanket. Not even a little shampoo bottle. There was a coffee maker. The teaspoon of grounds were poured into a wadded up filter already in the maker. Toilet paper roll was placed on top of an empty dispenser. I had ants crawling on me in bed.
I was tired of driving for 10 hours and needed a break. I am very tolerant of low end hotels if they charge realistic prices for the value. I can not imagine who would pay $80 twice for this room.

Absolute WORST motel conditions I have ever seen!!! I would NEVER recommend this motel and would prefer to give it NO stars!!! Got into town very late and it was the only room available and personally, I would have been better off sleeping in my truck! Upon arriving the owner was hospitable and friendly but that is the only positive thing I can say about this establishment.

I rented the room for 3 nights and was forced to pay cash up front because he did not have the use of a credit card machine despite the advertisement of acceptable forms of payment displayed on his office window. The room was $120 a night to include a $20 key deposit.

Upon entering the room, I was shown how to unplug the air conditioner and plug it into the surge protector. The owner told me that it may blow a fuse and how to reset it should it occur. I was given two very used and ragged towels that had old glue and staples in them. The carpets were visually soiled and I would not recommend walking on them without having shoes on. There was an incredible stench in the room. The bathroom was filthy, had mildew in the tiles and lacked any complimentary toiletries. The bathroom window had broken blinds that anyone could look thru and see straight into the shower. The beds sagged in the center, had mismatched & tattered bedding with pillows left little to be desired. I was truly concerned I would wake up with bed bugs. The room was decorated in old, 80's style furniture littered in dust and cobwebs.

Too make matters EVEN WORSE the neighboring guests stayed outside our door partying all night. They laughed, cursed, yelled & howled until 430 am. There was NO enforcement of the California Noise Ordinance from the owner. Despite my road fatigue and frustration, I finally packed my stuff up and left shortly after 5am. I was frustrated, exhausted and worried that my vehicle would be broken into or stolen.

I later returned and spoke with the owner about the situation. He apologized multiple times and then informed me that the neighbors had already checked out and should not have any more issues. I told him that I had no plans of returning for another night and wanted a refund. I expected to get 2 nights refunded along with the key deposit since I returned it. I was told he could only give me back $120 because I didn't give him 24 hours notice that I wouldn't be staying the next day... mind you, I checked in at 11 pm the night prior. I feel that after the night I experienced, I should have received a full refund.

If you find this is your only option while staying in Burney, California....please consider sleeping in your vehicle in the Safeway parking lot to avoid what I had to experience.

The owner is super friendly and he deserves more credit than these negative reviews gives. He gets little occupancy, and with that said, he can barely keep the lights on as is. It is the only hotel on that side of town. It is the only place that has designated smoking. He enjoys musicians playing, and I personally don't mind the old hotel. He makes you feel like family, and I will always stay there if I need a room in Burney. A/C always works great!! And he minds his own too if you get visitors☆☆☆☆☆ no matter what time of day.

I so wanted to give advice to these owners as they are nice but don't seem to understand how to run a hotel. So many simple things could be nicer and cleaner. Most people I know would not have stayed at this hotel, I'm not as picky. The bed was clean but the shower door was not. Towels are old, but clean. Pillows very flat, but again clean. It was OK considering the price. Wifi, TV and coffee were fine.

Die Sleepy Hollow Lodge hat etwa acht Zimmer in unterschiedlicher Größe. Es gibt zwar eine Internetseite, aber buchen kann man nur per Telefon (FAX und Mail werden wohl nicht gelesen). Wir reservierten ca 6 Monate vor unserer Ankunft und erhielten eine Buchungsnummer. Trotzdem war weder die Nummer noch unser Name bekannt. Na ja, es war ein Zimmer mit zwei Queensbetten frei (für 4 Personen), das nahmen wir dann. Das Motel ist sehr einfach und schon älter. Unser Zimmer war halbwegs geräumig, ebenso das Bad, alles sehr plüschig und leicht altertümlich aber liebevoll eingerichtet und vor allem sehr sauber. Mikro und Kühlschrank vorhanden, ebenfalls ein riesiger Flachbildfernseher. Fön kann ausgeliehen werden, Duschgel bzw Shampoo sollte man mitbringen. Die Matratzen waren ordentlich. Frühstück war nicht möglich, im Ort gibt es aber einige Frühstücksgelegenheiten. Das Motel wird von der Besitzerin sehr persönlich geführt, so schwebte auch ein sehr intensiver Lavendel-Zimt-Geruch im Empfangsraum. Die Besitzerin hat uns extra über Nacht in ihrem privaten Eiskühler eine ganze Menge Eis für unsere Kühltasche gemacht, weil es keine Eismaschine gibt. Es gibt nur ein paar wenige Motels in dieser etwas abgelegenen Gegend, die waren aber sicherlich nicht besser. Kleinere Restaurants, Fastfood und Supermarkt sind im Ort vorhanden. Auf unserer Rundreise war es eines der teuersten Unterkünfte, dafür hatten wir ein Übernachtung, welche man durchaus gut in Erinnerung behalten kann.

We stayed at this motel earlier this week, due to an unexpected emergency. The office was dark, dirty, and smelly. The floor in the motel room was covered with dead bugs, as if they had set off a bug bomb earlier. Unfortunately, all of the bugs were not dead, and I got flea bites. No phone, no tissue, no hair dryer, and the shower door would not stay shut, thus the water sprayed out on the floor, which became very slippery. The cushions on the chairs were so dirty, I would not sit on them. The wall furnace vents were covered with dust bunnies, and there were spider webs hanging from the ceiling. I can do "old", but I cannot do dirty. And the price was way too high for the condition of the room.
