I would not recommend renting at Serenade Apartments due to their poor management and lack of transparency regarding security deposits.

After moving out, I had my unit professionally cleaned and even took pictures as proof. I called the leasing office for two weeks straight to check on the status of my security deposit and was repeatedly told I would receive an email once the process was complete. Instead, a month later, I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed $200.

When I called the leasing office again to dispute the charge, they claimed only the manager could explain the discrepancies. I called over 10 times, but the manager was never available. Eventually, I received a letter listing supposed damages to my unit—claims I can prove are false with my photos. Unfortunately, I had moved out of state, so I couldn’t go in person to resolve the issue. I also emailed them but never received a response.

The lack of communication and accountability from Serenade Apartments is beyond frustrating. If you’re considering living here, be aware that getting your deposit back could be a struggle, even if you leave your unit in perfect condition.

Parking also sucks!

Fire alarms going off at least once a week. Currently it is 9pm and there has been a fire alarm going off for almost 2 hours in the complex.

Less than a week after I moved in to my apartment flooded. I turned the washing machine on and the toilet and bathtub started overflowing with disgusting water, hair, and whatever the last tenant put down the drains. Everything in my bathroom was ruined and I was forced to stay somewhere else with my dog for several days as I could not use the sinks, toilet, shower, etc.

I had the same issue with the plumbing on Christmas Eve this year. Luckily it did not flood past the bathroom. I am VERY careful that nothing besides toilet paper goes down the toilet so this is just bad plumbing. Again I was forced to leave for the night and change my holiday plans. Maintenance people are very kind and responded quickly, but they left a mess of brown handprints on the walls, which was disgusting.

The jacuzzi is often broken and filled with green scum water, which is annoying because there is a fee of over $100 a month for amenities. There are always people (that are not tenants) digging through the garbage at night as well. The office staff are constantly sending out long emails threatening to increase the garbage fee if tenants don’t put garbage/recycling in the correct bins, but with people constantly going through the garbage, it seems that is the issue, not tenants.

Other than the issues I noted, I have enjoyed living here (convenient location, nice walking areas in nearby neighborhoods, spacious unit) but I am counting down the days until my lease is up (breaking the least would cost 2 months worth of rent). I wouldn’t recommend this apartment complex, unfortunately.

Katherine was wonderful and went out her way consistently in communicating with me to ensure I got my apartment exactly when I needed it and providing timely and meaningful response in helping me get through the process. Since I have been living here Jaidyn and Katherine have become amazing people to work with and helping me accomplish all I needed with expertise and care behind it.
The tour I got of the facility was true to the treatment of just how great the complex is matched by not only wonderful neighbors but even more amazing staff who are a joy to interact with! Highly encourage future residents to come look at the place and hope you enjoy the experience of working with the facility team.

Not worth it. There's a reason you always see people moving out when you live here. Very cheap place and you'll be paying 100 more a month than what the lease says to maintain a hot tub that is never open and always cold. Every couple of days my water stops getting hot and the response is "we can get to that in a couple days" until I tell them I'm going to not pay rent. Staff is nice, company is a joke.

I recently signed a lease at Serenade, and unfortunately, my experience was not as smooth as expected. The floor plan and condition of the unit my partner and I moved into did not match the model unit shown during the leasing process. Appliances and window shades in our unit were noticeably older and less modern than those in the model.

I strongly recommend requesting a walkthrough of the specific unit you’ll be renting before signing anything to avoid surprises.

Additionally, the leasing process itself was overwhelming. The amount of financial documentation requested was excessive, and the lease agreement and related paperwork totaled over 120 pages, which felt unnecessarily lengthy and complicated.

That said, there are a couple of positives: the location is excellent, with convenient access to The Collection and the 101 freeway, and the neighborhood has a generally safe and secure atmosphere.

Overall, while the location and safety are appealing, the discrepancies between the model and actual unit, along with the cumbersome leasing process, left me disappointed.

On January 1, 2025, I attempted to pay my rent through the Serenade payment portal, which was out of service. Despite multiple attempts to reset my password or sign in without a password via email, I did not receive any emails, even after thoroughly checking my inbox and junk folder. I tried again on January 2, 2025, but the issue persisted.

I contacted the leasing office and spoke with Michelle, who was dismissive, rude, and uninformed. She placed me on hold for over 10 minutes, forcing me to hang up and call again. When she answered my second call, she acknowledged an issue with the portal but claimed it had been resolved. However, I informed her that I was still unable to log in. Michelle dismissed my concerns by suggesting it was an isolated incident and recommended re-registering in the portal. Following her instructions that Michelle said were provided by her manager, I found that creating a new account was impossible due to the existing account.

When I offered to pay with a card, Michelle informed me that only checks were accepted, implying it was my responsibility to carry a checkbook. I expressed the inconvenience of having to visit the bank, to which she curtly replied that I had until the next day to avoid a late fee. She also refused to acknowledge any responsibility for the system failure, insisting it was not their fault.

I find it highly unprofessional that Serenade property management failed to notify residents of the portal's malfunction, particularly when rent was due. It is unreasonable to expect residents to adapt to sudden and inconvenient payment requirements without sufficient notice, especially when this disrupts their schedules or work commitments. Charging residents a late fee under these circumstances, as Michelle indicated might happen, is unacceptable and possibly illegal when the fault lies with property management.

When I returned with a cashier's check, I encountered further unprofessionalism. The manager, who did not provide her name, displayed a condescending and dismissive attitude. She refused to meet with me, remaining in her office despite the issue being escalated to her. Her tone and unwillingness to address the matter were both unhelpful and disrespectful, further tarnishing Serenade's reputation. This manager is not only unprofessional but also incompetent and unqualified to handle complaints and escalations. If Serenade wants to do better, they would need to train their property management team or hire new management. I opened a ticket with Two Coast Living resident relations to file an official complaint about my poor experience with Serenade at River Park on January 2, 2025. If Two Coast Living does not provide a resolution, I highly recommend against renting at Serenade River Park. I'll keep this comment updated based on the ticket resolution.

01/06/25: 4 days later and the payment portal is still out of service. Two Coast Living resident relations replied to my ticket and apologized for the behavior of Serenade property management but the issue still persists and no one reached out to address.

01/07/25: Serenade River Park replied to my comment claiming that they tried to help me several times. That is totally incorrect. They never did. They were dismissive and did not help at all. Additionally, they attached a notice to my apartment door claiming that I violated the terms and conditions of the lease. Still, no one addressed the portal issue where residents can make payments or open a maintenance ticket.

01/15/25: No communication or assistance was provided by Serenade Riverpark. No action or customer service from the management team. I submitted another request to corporate (Two Coast Living) informing them that issue is still not resolved. A corporate associate reset my account and linked it to another email address. Issue was resolved after repeated requests on my end.

I absolutely loved everything about the apartment, amazing kitchen, and bathroom, lots of storage space, closet was huge and the bedroom, and living room were every spacious, hardly had maintenance called, everything is like new, clean and updated, pool and game room is very high end. The community is very quiet and calm. I only wish there was no construction around because your balcony will always be dusty, but nothing you can do about that. Overall the appointment itself was wonderful, a very enjoyable 12 month lease!

I lived at Serenade from August 2023 to August 2024 and have unfortunately had a very frustrating experience regarding my security deposit.

Upon moving out, I was informed that my deposit was only $500 despite my records indicating that I paid a $900 deposit. I have reached out multiple times via email, providing proof of my payment, but I have yet to receive a response.

It’s disappointing that communication has been lacking, especially considering the importance of resolving this matter. I believe in open dialogue and would appreciate an opportunity to settle this without escalating to legal action.

I hope to hear back from management soon to clarify this situation, being it’s been nearly a month.
