Nestled in the picturesque town of Stinson Beach, this old motel proved to be an unexpected haven during our cross-country honeymoon journey from Minnesota to California. After a long drive with the top down on our MGB, the journey became particularly challenging as we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge into a dense fog. The night was starry, but the fog thickened as we ventured north on Highway 1, making the drive to Stinson Beach a slow, cautious endeavor through the mysterious, foggy coastal night.||Exhaustion had set in by the time we saw the welcoming "Vacancy" sign outside this quaint motel. The room we entered was simple yet profoundly comforting. The bed was covered with a heavy, warm handmade quilt, offering the perfect embrace after our long day. The room's charm was enhanced by a small bouquet of white daisies on the dresser, adding a romantic flair to our honeymoon night.||The morning brought clear skies and sunshine, revealing the dramatic cliffs plunging to the sea that we had unknowingly navigated in the fog the night before—a revelation that sent shivers of excitement through us. This motel, with its warm welcome and cozy comforts, became more than just a place to rest; it was a refuge that turned a potentially harrowing night into a cherished memory. ||For anyone seeking a touch of nostalgia and a warm, inviting stay, this motel in Stinson Beach holds a special place in our hearts, forever linked to the beginning of our life together.

This place was definitely not what it showed in the pictures. It was dirty, smelled of old fruit and mold, and had so much junk everywhere it was like hoarder heaven. The owners were nice, but too old and tired to keep up with this business. They need to change the name as they do not do breakfast, and honestly if they did, I would have not eaten it. Do not stay here if you want a nice Clean, peaceful place. They advertised $99 a night on a sign out front but charged us $130. We do not recommend this place...ever, to anyone!!

The owner was awkward. We saw only the woman during our stay. Let's be honest. It is a b&b in a hoarder house. Way too many objects everywhere. It felt claustrophobic to be in every room. It can't be cleaned well because of the hoard. The garden was our favorite place even if it was still fully packed with chairs, plants and sculptures. If you want a weird, unique, unreal experience go. Don't go if you wish a cozy, relax, unstressful, romantic, cute and clean time

We had an interesting experience at the Redwood Haus. The outside space was very eclectic and the host was very friendly over the phone. The inside space was outdated, messy and unkempt. Our room was advertised as a balcony room with an ocean view, but there were spiders at the entrance to the patio. I question the safety of the emergency fire ladder. My boyfriend got caught in a 90 minute conversation with the owners who lacked professional boundaries. The hotel is in a great location, but certainly not worth the money for what you’re getting in my opinion.

Adorable eclectic Inn. Very homey. Everything we need. You can hear the ocean even though it's about 2 blocks away. Located right across the street from the fire department. The owners have been here for 30 years! And although they no longer serve breakfast they are very hospitable and offer tea and fruit. It's kind of like staying at your bohemian aunt and uncle's house. Lots of cool stuff to look at! Beautiful garden. We would happily return!

More like staying in your crazy hoarder great-aunt’s back bedroom than a B&B. Nothing has changed since the 70’s. That said, the bed was comfy, and we got a pretty good nights sleep. Unfortunately we were woken multiple times by mice (or something!) trying to get into our trail mix in the room - never experienced that before!

1/5 Stars - Not safe. The Stinson Beach Redwood Haus is a private residence that is a hoarder’s nest for the owner / operators. The steps, ceiling, & whole home is a far far cry from ADA compliant. I hurt my toe here and it will take about 18 months to heal. The price is extremely high. There is no breakfast included. The attitude of the home owners is passable, but not particularly welcoming. The beds are not comfortable. I would recommend any alternative.

My fiancé and I really lucked out last night to find this special and quirky bed & breakfast in Stinson. After finding ourselves stranded late night with no car and no way home to SF, we were welcomed in by Alfonse and his wife Margaret for a very reasonable last minute price. There are so many unfair negative reviews about this B&B. It’s such a cool and interesting spot in the perfect location. Our room in the back through the patio was clean, cute, comfortable and we had a private bathroom. We were so excited to stay up late watching movies in our room (such a great selection of DVDs and VHS). Breakfast was plentiful and tasty (eggs, fried potatoes, awesome sausages). The conversation with Alfonse and the other guests was fun and so full of local history and wild tales. Then, Alfonse drove us back over the mountain after breakfast. We will definitely be back here again and probably share the experience with friends.
