WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : Avoid the Potter Hotel at 9th and Mission Street

The Potter Hotel is unfortunately plagued by numerous issues that make it unsafe and unsuitable for individuals, families, or anyone trying to make a living in a decent environment. Here’s a breakdown of the most critical problems:
1. Severe Roach Infestation
The hotel suffers from a serious roach problem, making it unhygienic and uncomfortable for guests. The infestation is widespread and not addressed by management.
2. Biohazardous Bathrooms
The bathrooms are extremely dirty, reaching biohazard levels. This poses serious health risks to anyone staying at the hotel.
3. Unprofessional Management
The manager, Sue, has been reported as highly unprofessional. Allegations include door-kicking incidents and refusal to return security deposits without valid reason.
4. Unsafe Environment
The area around 9th and Mission Street is notorious for drug-related activities, which extend to the hotel’s vicinity. Guests have reported frequent drug deals occurring directly in front of the building, with management and security turning a blind eye.
5. Blocked Entrances
The entrance is often blocked by individuals lingering or engaging in illegal activities, making it difficult and unsafe to access the property.
6. Life-Threatening Incidents
On multiple occasions, guests or passersby have experienced dangerous situations, including the need to revive individuals in distress near the entrance.
7. Overpriced for the Conditions
Despite these issues, the hotel charges $1,200 per month, which is far too high for the substandard living conditions it offers.

Conclusion
The Potter Hotel fails to provide a safe, clean, or professional environment for its residents. Prospective tenants should be aware of these serious issues and consider alternative accommodations. Staying here poses significant health, safety, and financial risks.

Thank you for taking the time to read this warning. I hope it helps others avoid the same challenges I faced.

WARNING!!!!

Stay away from this place and area. It’s not worth it. Keep your peace of mind. This place needs to be shut down. This is not a place for hard working individuals or people that need rest away from work.

No microwave or fridge with discussing bedding. Food and soda in machines often expired, swords and VA cram elderly veterans in here who should be in nursing home and forget about them . It's just a money grab if federal money. Our veterans deserve better than a roach infested crack motel

So U had no idea this was a SRO housing... It was a very dirty place I think the housekeeping needs to either do their job better or they need to hire more... Front desk individuals were very rude and act as if they are running things. Had it been a different area I would've dealt with them in a more direct manner. They apparently came from Tennessee 5 months ago but now they all (5) have jobs their. To be honest it seems as if they are hiding from someone or some entity. The owner was a sweet lady. Her and I had several conversations. I told her to be cautious of those individuals because I'm sure they are up to no good or possibly wanted in another state.

I mentioned the bed bugs, that was one time out of 2 years total I lived there out of 3 different rooms. Even top end hotels in SF have bed bug problems on occasion. I’ve worked in hospitality in the city. Take my word, no mattress is safe for long

Tons of roaches but the only thing worse is getting bit by bedbugs. I caught 5 bed bugs. Management says pest control comes every other Wednesday but what do they do, just look around and not treat for bed bugs. I have attached photos taken today January 19 2017. The bed and box spring are damaged and are perfect hiding spot for bed bugs. The room is 337.

The owner Sara is amazing it's the goons that work for her that are no good. They are up to something and I know it. I hope the owner keeps her guard up because I know they are probably going to get over on her. Horrible customer service and are drug dealers I know because I seen several transactions. Sara hire better individuals these are not good for you
