I was attacked by a dog that I was fostering to the point I had to be rushed into the ER. I had to have emergency surgery on my arm for a broken ulna bone asap the following day. During the time I was attacked I called 911 and the police escorted the dog to the animal shelter in Paradise, California. While I was in the hospital undergoing surgery Animal Control called me several times and left several voicemails saying that I need to come and pick up the dog or else I would have to pay a quarantine fee. I called back when I could a day later and was told by animal control that I couldn’t surrender the dog there and that I needed to take the dog back or pay quarantine fees. I myself had to call my vet and pay to have the dog euthanized. I feel this was extremely unsafe towards myself and the overall safety of the community as this dog almost ended my life and yet animal control demanded I take the dog back? For the safety of the community and all people and animals I should have legally been allowed to surrender the dog to paradise animal control instead of them leaving me several voicemails telling me I need to take the dog back while I’m at the hospital having surgery from said dog.

Saw the Officer (public servant) at Tractor Supply in Paradise Promoting their shelter. 10/26/24, I asked “where are the dogs”? The response was she didn’t think they would want to come and sit outside all day until 3 o’clock…. I’m absolutely dumbfounded that somebody would not take animals with them to a venue where people might actually be interested and possibly fall in love and adopt an animal. The dogs sit in their kennel all day ALONE losing hope…SMH The volunteer at the shelter is an amazing human being…That’s why I put 3 stars

They were hired to Advocate for the animals, Meanwhile, dogs are being euthanized left and right. If you don’t wanna work hard and get dogs adopted go find another job! I’m sure AT LEAST 1 dog (5 puppies and 12 other dogs currently available) might’ve gotten adopted today had that person done their job.

It’s so wonderful having Molly as the new head AC officer! She has really turned the shelter around. Her and her staff really care about pets and their owners.

I adopted my dog from this shelter, she had already been returned once because the family didn't have time for her after all. She's a lovable mutt! They told me as much about her as they could, and even gave me a free crate. To help in the forever home process. I think the shelter does their best at trying to adopt out pets instead of euthanizing them. Don't breed or buy while others die. Check local shelters first and bring home a forever friend.

I adopted my fur baby 15 years ago and he was the perfect angel, now he is with the angels in heaven and I miss him so very much!♥️🐾 I would like to find my next perfect angel here again, I just keep checking ♥️

They adopted out a Camp Fire rescued cat whose original owner has come forward. Why is no one replying to inquiries? I can't imagine the adopter would actually want to keep someone else's beloved pet under these circumstances!
