I'm 59yrs old and reasonably healthy except for a recent neck/spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed from the waist down. After ICU and acute care facility I was dumped here like a piece of trash in a trash heap. I was supposedly sent here for rehab w/ physical and occupational therapy. Apparently Orinda "Rehab" has been in a state of upheaval for a long time. They are short staffed and ill-equiped and as a result are guilty, mostly of neglect. I think what little staff is left does the best they can with what they have. A few, however, just don't seem to care or are not properly trained. They all are over worked and maybe under paid? PT/OT consist of 2 or 3 people. They are absolutely excellent but overwhelmed with patients and have almost no equipment. I need intensive rehab w/ PT/OT and neurologist. My condition can and should improve with the right care but instead it is getting worse every day that I'm here. There could and should be a class action lawsuit against the owners. I'll be looking into that. The staff and especially the patients don't deserve to be treated like this. It's inhumane and immoral not to mention illegal !!!! I'm not sacrificing the rest of my life due to some greedy dirt bag's corporate ownerships corruption and sheer neglect and abuse of helpless elderly and disabled folks. Fix it now, shut it down, or pay the price !! 😠

Do not be fooled by the old 5 star reviews, these were given under the previous owner.
This place does not even deserve one star.
We placed my 92-year-old grandmother here after she fell and was discharged from the hospital for rehabilitation.
We were appalled at her treatment for the first 2 days she was there. She was left alone, not even water or tissues in her room and was still in her hospital gown that she arrived in. We were told that they couldn't do anything until the doctor assessed her which turned out to be on the 3rd day.
From the beginning, we could tell that there was no communication between the staff, we would ask questions and no one ever could give us a straight answer and would go to check with someone else, who didn't know the answer either.
When she first arrived in Orinda, she could walk with a walker, carry on a conversation, and tell us what she needed.
We eventually hired a care-giver to be with her because we noticed she wasn't getting the care she needed.
Then on a Monday, my mom noticed that my grandma was not doing well and having trouble speaking. She asked for the doctor to be notified and to see her immediately. For 6 days, we asked the nurses and we called the doctor and he never showed up. We asked the nurses and they would look at us like they were scared to say anything,I asked them numerous times to call 911 and they would tell me to wait for the doctor. Finally on the 6th day we called 911 ourselves and had her sent to emergency.
When the paramedics arrived, the head nurse told them that my grandmother was fine and that all the reports stated so. The paramedics even told me that she was not responding properly and something was wrong.
It turns out after all the of testing at the hospital, that my grandmother had suffered a stroke and the doctor said it had probably been one week to 5 days ago. Exactly when we tried to get the doctor at Orinda Rehabilitation to see her. If they had responded when we asked them to and had taken to emergency, her condition may not have deteriorated as much as it has.
When I went to Orinda Rehabilitation the next day to get my grandmother's belongings, (because she will never go back to this facility), I spoke with the head nurse, and she seemed to think my grandmother was fine according to her nurses reports.
Basiclly, DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY.

I would not wish this place on my worst enemy! My 94 year old grandmother was placed here because there were no other beds available in our area. Which made visiting sometimes a little difficult. EVERYTIME WE WENT TO VISIT my grandmother was in someone else's clothes due to the fact that her belongings were "misplaced" Everything was gone, from her tops to her pants and shoes. We bought 15 pairs of socks and they were all gone in less than 2 weeks. This place is disgusting! The staff could care less about her or our concerns. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE FACILITY! It's the kind of place that families have nightmares about. Our lasting impression of this facility is nothing but REGRET.
