Top tier fun and adventure!
We stayed at Kodiak Wilderness Lodge for two nights early season 2024. John and Sarah were gracious hosts and provided a fun atmosphere. The lodge is beautiful and spacious with mountain/ocean views all around. The fishing was great for early season, crabs were caught and cooked for a 5-star meal. The baña (Alaskan sauna) was roasting and the ocean cold for a uniquely Alaskan experience of hot/cold dips. We will stay again!

Great outdoor experience, cozy comfortable clean lodge, and the nicest hosts you’ll ever encounter!
I highly recommend doing the steamy hot Banya and the ocean plunge challenge. It was just one of the many things that sets this lodge apart from others.

This was just the piece of heaven we needed for the best outdoor experience Alaska-Style! The 30-minute float plane flight from the town of Kodiak took us over a mountain pass and down over Ugak Bay to the beach in front of Kodiak Wilderness Lodge that would be our home for the next 5-days. The lodge is surrounded by a diverse wilderness environment with the bay beckoning the saltwater fisherman and whale watcher alike while several nearby rivers hold a variety of seasonal salmon. On the bay all species of game fish are available and were targeted at John’s favorite spots scattered about the bay short boat rides from the lodge. All fishing and rain gear (when needed) was provided along with all rods, reels, terminal tackle and bait offerings for days activities.

Back at the lodge our catch was processed in the well-stocked fish shed equipped with all the conveniences you could need for cleaning, storing, and freezing including a commercial grade vacuum sealer to preserve our bounty for the eventual trip home. The lodge accommodations themselves were inviting, warm and comfortable reflecting the rustic ambiance of an Alaskan outpost. Large picture windows looked out on Ugak Bay in the common area room where we could sit back and relax and share stories of the day’s adventures. Some chose to play games or read a book while others elected took advantage of the Banya (aka “Russian Sauna”) followed by a quick dip in the cold water of the bay!. Along with meal menus of delicious local caught fare and various fresh offerings delivered weekly, we never left wanting for more.

Kodiak Wilderness Lodge is a special place and we’re sure to be back along with other family members to share in all the wonderful experiences Kodiak Island has to offer the outdoor enthusiast.
