It’s good that we have a beach nearby richmond but the water is not that clear. It’s nice to spend a sunny day chilling by the beach or do a picnic. But I do not prefer swimming because of the quality of water. However, it is up to you I see many people swimming too. I hate the squirrels over there. You can also see a glimpse of the golden gate bridge from there.

Homeless and predators aside, Keller Beach is a wonderful place. Walk through it on a weekday morning for some lovely sights and solitude. Walk through it on a Saturday afternoon and experience the smells of local family bbqs and the glee of birthday parties.

Sights and smells and fauna are all lovely at any time of year. Although it can get a bit cold and windy in the winter. The lake also has its seasonal moods. Smelly, mostly, in the summer. Overflowing in the winter.

Googled beaches near me and found this one and liked the photos and reviews so I went . Loved it. Had a great time. There are bathrooms. There is a outside shower to rinse off all the sand from the day. Plenty of benches and tables. Barbeque pits there was even a pay phone ! And it works! That was a rare find these days🤣. The sand was beautiful and clean. Will definitely be going to this beach from now on ❤️

We followed someone’s advice and parked in the charming Point Richmond area and walked about 10 minutes up through the Ferry Point tunnel to the beach. I would recommend that, as the downtown is very cute and the tunnel is nice and cool during a hot day.

The actual beach is somewhat small, but wasn’t busy, so it would be nice to visit with a small group. You can walk up a path from the beach and have a nice picnic overlooking the bay with the sound of waves in the background.

If you walk along the path, you can cut over into a park (which I believe is part of the Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline area). The park has a pond where we saw 3-4 egrets (including a very tiny one). It had plenty of picnic areas.

If you don’t cut over, you’ll come to the blocked end of the decommissioned rail line. It’s a nice kind of abandoned photo shoot with the old railway overlooking the bay.

I would recommend using a different bathroom before visiting. The bathrooms were filthy, flies/bugs were buzzing all around unflushed toilets.

The water at Keller beach is much cleaner than Alameda! I checked the Bay water report. How is this possible just a stones throw from Chevron? Who Knew! Now I know and I went in up to my neck on a hot day. It was so nice! Open water swimmers abound, squirrels and gophers seem happy, Fringey people behave themselves so far, stoners stay out of my way, Lots of cute kids and nice families. Love it!

I love visiting my local beach with my children. This beach is never crowded and has beautiful views of the bay and San Rafael bridge.
This beach doesn't allow dogs however the pier is a short drive further where you can bring your furry friend.
Another nice amenity is they offer a bbq area equipped with grills, water source and tables.
Come on down and enjoy Keller Beach!

Fun beach for a hot day. The water is a little gross but I guess that's what you get for the bay. We showered when we got home and were fine
