The bad reviews here are not justified! The place was charming and cute— okay it’s not a luxury hotel, but if you want that you go pay triple the price. The owner was genuinely kind, the building was decorated with pretty flowers, it had a friendly atmosphere, and the motel was tucked away from the busy road. Not bad!

Dreckig, ekelig, unhygienisch, extrem am stinken und nicht sauber gemacht. Ich wünschte ich könnte gar keinen Stern geben.
In dem einen Zimmer ging die Toilette nicht, und in dem alternativ Zimmer ging das Wasser nicht. Der Ort bietet auch nicht viel, somit mussten wir uns mit dieser Unterkunft abfinden.
KEINE Empfehlung. Lieber meiden und etwas anderes suchen!!!!

Johnston gets a bad rap because of the formerly illegal cannabis industry. It's only two bucks more than the Lone Pine and an infinitely safer building.

I experienced exquisite customer service before Prop64 threw these folks' town into its economic apocalypse.

I was travelling a short distance with my homeschooled child. The purpose of these "minivacations" was to normalize the concept of travel to my low-income 6-10 YO and teach him that the world is bigger than the Stop 'N Shop ('hood) neighbourhood in Eureka California.

Johnston went above and beyond the call of duty to provide a safe, clean, affordable, quiet, and private room.

My child will never be afraid of motels, trash motels, or be rude to folks who make their living running or working at Motels.

Thank you, Johnston Motel, for this beautiful, wholesome, family friendly memory I will cherish until the day I die.

All of us who have ever lived in or loved Humboldt County will understand. We all have too few of these memories NOT to share them with our Humboldt family.

For the past 20 some years,
before mass exodus of population,
Johnston's has been worst dumpy hotel in town.

If I hadn't been exhausted I would have driven to the next town; almost slept in my car. Dirty, smelled, bare bulb fixtures. I slept in my sleeping bag on top of the bed. Do not stay here.

Oh my. Where to begin. We picked this motel off of the internet because of the reviews at some of the other Garberville motels were terrible. Now we know why there were so few reviews for this place, smart people would not stay here! This place is a dump. Old, and outdated, the room stinks of cigarette smoke. The walls are awful, dirty and I don't want to take my shoes off, the carpet is so nasty. It's noisy and it looks like there's a bunch of folks 'living' here... who stand out on the sidewalks & smoke. Yikes... There's no ice machine. There are no glasses in the room. I do not recommend this place!
