A beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright designed home lovingly restored by Linda. Linda is friendly and welcoming and you are immediately an old friend. This beautiful home sits on a hill overlooking Holbrook, Az. There is, sadly, nothing to see or do in Holbrook but lots in the area and on the way. But it doesn't matter because inside the gates of Heward House you are in a different and peaceful world. The grounds are beautiful, lovely for sitting and enjoying the beauty. The house is spectacular and filled with interesting Indian art. The decor in the rooms is a bit eccentric but that adds to the fun! Linda served a great breakfast on the patio. We spent the night here on the way to Canyon Dr Chelley but would have been happy to spend a few more.

Heward House is an unexpected pleasure. This lovely home is filled with Native American art. Each guest room has a unique theme. The outside courtyard is lush and colorful. Our host, Linda, was welcoming and charming. She is a long time resident of the area and shared many fascinating stories with us. She made us feel as if we were old friends. Breakfast was delicious; as an unexpected surprise she invited us to share dinner with her and some other guests. Some reviewers commented on the freeway and train noise but we didn't even notice it and slept soundly in the comfortable bed. Proximity to Petrified Forest and Painted Desert makes the B&B an ideal location from which to explore the parks.

Heward House is an incredible gem in Holbrook,AZ....a Frank Lloyd Wright House owned by the lively and lovely Linda! It is decorated with excellent American Indian artifacts and there is no corner or room where you can't see something amazing. Perfect Bed and Breakfast! Close to The Petrified Forest and The Painted Desert, it's in an ideal location to explore. Helps the ambiance factor to know Johnny Depp stayed here when filming...

A Frank Lloyd Wright designed house, enthusiastically and lovingly restored by the delightful Lynda. The house sits above the small town of Holbrook and the communal lounge has an excellent view of the town and surrounding desert. Rooms are good sized, beautifully decorated, comfortable and retain some of the original 1930s features. Don't be deterred by its proximity to the freeway (the house was there long before the freeway was built). Once inside the house you will not be aware that you are near the I-40 (the rail road is over a mile away) and we had no problem with noise. We stayed here for two nights on our trip along Route 66 and found it an excellent base to visit the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. Excellent breakfast home cooked breakfast and good wifi.

Beautiful location! The grounds were lovely. Ditto all the previous reviews, and then some. Linda was a fountain of knowledge about shopping, entertaining, etc., very modest about rumour of the Food Network's using their driveway for their BBQ cookoff. I only just read about the Johnny Depp stay! Wish I had known when we were there!

We spent a night at this eclectic three-bedroom B&B, run by Linda, a charming and interesting Texan. We were interested to learn that Johnnie Depp stayed there with Vanessa Paradis while filming the Lone Ranger at the Canyon de Chelly.||||The only negative comment is that the B&B is located about two miles north of a major freight train junction, with huge trains blowing their whistles every 20 minutes. My companion didn't think to turn on the air conditioning fan in her room to drown out the noise. (The I40 freeway runs even closer to the B&B, but didn't bother either of us.)||||One of the attractions of staying here rather than the Canyon de Chelly is that the latter is on Indian land and bans alcohol. We had a good Italian dinner at Mesa Restaurante just up the road from the B&B.

Stayed a couple of nights so we could see Meteor Crater and the Petrified Forest and break our journey to New Mexico.||So glad we chose this B & B as the hotels in Holbrook were pretty generic and mostly motels.||This gorgeous Frank Lloyd Wright house is full of so much interesting stuff and it was lovely to sit in the gardens and chat to Linda who is an incredibly interesting lady. ||Breakfast was huge and home cooked with fruit, eggs and muffins or biscuits.||We would love to stay again and thanks Linda for making our stay so enjoyable.||PS Hope Randy is enjoying his new regime!!

Holbrook seemed like a good stopping-off point for our explorations of the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, so we stayed 2 nights at Heward House B&B--it could not have been a better stay. My wife and I are B&B connoisseurs, and have stayed at dozens of them, and I must admit this was one of the loveliest and most charming ever! Linda is such a kick to chat with, such a character, we could have sat talking with her for a full day, but alas, the incredible scenery of the natural world located so conveniently nearby called us.||||As to whether this home is an official Frank Lloyd Wright design from the 1930s, I work as a docent at Wright's 1907 masterpiece, the Darwin Martin House in Buffalo, NY, and so have a great deal of training and background regarding Wright. The Heward House does not appear in any official guide, list or compendium of Wright's body of work. However, both circumstantial and design evidence (especially the corner-window treatments), as well as the overall design, suggest that Wright probably did have some, perhaps even a great deal of input in and consultation about this structure. Linda told me that she did once see the blueprints, and at that time did not note whether Wright's distinctive signature appeared on them. The blueprints are presently in the hands of members of the Heward family, who unfortunately do not appear willing to let her look at them again. But in any case, the building is a wonderfully sited Art Deco-stlye mid-30s masterpiece, and Linda's breakfasts are fabulous.
