Could not have been more perfect. Our rooms were spotless and incredibly comfortable and beautiful. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. Beautiful surroundings. What a peaceful place. Steps away is a coffee shop with delicious croissants and other goodies, Mario’s Marina Bar with the awesome bartender Erica. The host was very responsive. We highly recommend the Black Sands Inn for anyone looking for a great stay! Can’t wait to come back:-)

This is a great place to stay on the Lost Coast of California. The room was perfect and views spectacular. Communication was great and check in and out was seamless. This is in a remote area so be prepared for the drive into Shelter Cove and bring some extra snacks or food since the local eatery’s don’t stay open very late. We saw amazing wildlife all over and the Black Sand Beach is amazing. Definitely will be making a trip back. If you happen to own a plane and can fly in the airstrip is well maintained and within walking distance to the Black Sands Inn.

I don’t give out five stars that often but I can’t deny the value of this hotel! I was pleasantly surprised that the hot tub was impeccably clean and warmed to an amazing 104 ? the master deluxe suite was so spacious and had all the things needed for cooking and the views of the ocean were breathtaking. The fireplace worked well but it did get a little chilly but there was a space heater to warm up the big room. The comforter and duvet were incredibly soft too!
I also appreciated the dog bag station and area. Overall great value and experience, I would book again. and worth the slow drive down the windy road to shelter cove!

Absolutely incredible location, being able to sit out on the deck overlooking the ocean makes this place really special. It was also very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to heat the room up nicely, but all the lights are very bright and there are no rugs, so I wouldn't call it "cozy". The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the shade on one of the sliding glass windows to the ocean view was stuck down so our view was obstructed (and it wasn't something that could be fixed in the short-term). The coffee shop next door is fantastic and we walked to Mario's for a drink and an excellent dinner and really enjoyed talking with locals. Altogether Shelter Cove is a very interesting and beautiful place, well worth the effort it takes to get there.

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The building stood up to a 7.0 earthquake while we were there. The little town was organized and prepared for the tsunami warning after the earthquake. The veiw was truly unbelievable and the people in the little town were very nice. The drive in from the 101 is pretty interesting, I highly suggest to do it during the day on the first time in. We enjoyed every bit of our stay at black sands inn, the only recommendation I have is for there to be a BBQ grill.
