The staff is universally friendly and they all know the residents' names. Amazing! Their Circle of Friends "memory enhancement" program is really great. The outdoor courtyard is fabulous if your loved one likes being outdoors. That said, they could do with improvements to their communication skills - everything from answering the phone, sending community newsletters, sending info about Circle of Friends-once in 14 months, coordinating with each other between shifts, to speaking clear English. Some of the dining hall serving staff are slow and inattentive - regularly. The food is good, but not great. Housekeeping does not thoroughly clean the apartments - even simple tasks like dusting are "phoned in." PALs and Nursing staff are not as proactive as you might want. Not horrible, but you do have to advocate on behalf of your loved one if you really need something to be done. I have yet to see (though it may happen when I'm not around) a PAL "notice" bathroom messes and address them, even after going into the bathroom to empty the trash. Overall, I still give them credit considering every resident has different personalities and needs. That's a lot to handle. But it does feel like the staff is mostly just doing the bare minimum unless you advocate (read: complain). Yes, there are exceptions - this is a generalization. There is more than enough good to have me keep my mom there.

My parents have lived at Belmont Villages for over 4 years. Unfortunately, my father can no longer bare his own weight and so we've found a new place with mechanical lifts for him to stay. But, my brothers and I wish to thank Belmont Village and the staff for taking such good care of my parents while they were there.
Our advice for those contemplating moving their parents is not to wait too long. My Dad enjoyed playing pool with the other residents and with staff. We wish that our parents had taken greater advantage of all the programs that Belmont Villages offers, but we may have waited too long.
We waited too long to get my Dad hearing aids. He has not gotten used to them. We waited too long to get him a wheel chair. So, he has never pushed himself. We visited our parents often and the staff has always been friendly and helpful and we cannot thank the staff enough.
