My 93 yr old father has been a resident at Sunrise since start of August. The facility is beautiful. The staff is caring and attentive. The food is good. He enjoys the activities. For what could be a very challenging transition (from independent living to assisted), it has gone really well.

My Mom has been at been at Sunrise Assisted Living for six months. My Mom is happy living there, she is active in the many daily activities that are offered to residents, and she likes the food!

Both the other residents and the care team members are very friendly and welcoming. The care team has been very good at selecting the right service level for my Mom and communicating when any health or other issues arise. The care team members who are assigned to my Mom and help her with daily activities like bathing and medication management are very positive and competent and have shown they really care about my Mom and her well being. The dining room team members are also very competent and accommodating of personal tastes and special requests.

I’m very happy we chose Sunrise and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for assisted living.

It has been a year since we moved our mom from out of state to live near us at Sunrise of San Mateo in October 2023. The relief that I feel knowing that her needs are being taken care of is incredible. Mom's care managers are patient, kind and treat her with respect.

Joanne Gutierrez, the Assisted Living Coordinator, has been tireless in coming up with different tactics to engage our mom. She is now spending all morning downstairs participating in activities instead of spending her morning in her room. As her care needs evolve the team modifies their approach to her care. They are wonderful about keeping us in the loop and are very willing to problem solve together.

Joanne made it clear that she wants her team to get to know the residents in their care and I feel like they do a wonderful job of it.

We are so grateful to have found the community at Sunrise of San Mateo.

Sunrise of San Mateo is a warm and caring community with a wide variety of activities to keep seniors active and engaged. They put a great deal of thought into the Plan of Care for each resident, and allow for flexibility as needs change. We were greatly impressed by the empathy and one-on-one attention from everyone we worked with, from senior level staff down to caregivers. Highly recommend.

Sunrise of San Mateo is outstanding! The entire staff, activities, meals, facility, location are all excellent. The care team is superb! The Assisted Living Coordinator, Joanne, is highly skilled, innovative, sincerely caring, and energetic in helping to develop and execute plans for caring for and assisting Sunrise residents. Led by Joanne, our care managers - Miriam, Millie, Folole, Helen, and Carmen - are exceptionally skilled, proactive, and caring. They truly do go “above and beyond” in thinking of and providing ways to enhance care and comfort of residents. We have been very pleased with being at Sunrise and highly recommend it.

I had the pleasure of visiting Sunrise San Mateo as my daughter is in a string quartet that performed there recently as part of a community service project under which the quartet was founded.
We were met by the sweetest residents who were engaged and
active participants! They were indeed a lovely audience! The lobby was welcoming, and the ambience was serene and reflective. The areas we walked through were clean, and organized. The activities team that helped organize the visit was responsive, warm, thorough and helpful. The quartet hopes to visit again once they have a new
music set. Thanks for everything!

As a vendor providing an essential services to Assisted Living & Memory care, I truly admire the quality of care and overall atmosphere. The staffs/CNA’s are not just professional but also compassionate. Taking care the residents like it’s their family. They make sure that the residents receive the highest standard support and care.

I can tell that the residents always look for her and wanted to chat with her. Joann made the residents feel that they are being heard and helped. We are so pleased with the care my mother is receiving at Sunrise San Mateo. The staff is personal, caring and consistent. Her care managers know her well, understand her needs and ensure that they are met. The Wellness and Restaurant staff are also wonderful and engaging. I especially appreciate the prompt and helpful communication we receive when we have requests or questions. I have communicated with Joanne on many occasions and always find her responsive and perceptive. I'm at ease knowing my mother is in good hands.
