Rio Rancho Verde is the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing place I could imagine. Yes, it's clean, it has all the amenities it claims on the VRBO listing, Carmela is an amazing hostess. I've stayed in luxury hotel suites that can't hold a candle to the space we occupied. It's the full package. But for me it was the peace I felt while I was there. The beauty of the desert surrounding Carmela's home that I enjoyed by myself every morning and every evening. Visiting with the horses, walks around the beautifully landscaped property, wandering through the eco-garden. The Sun God next to the pool surrounded by fragrant flowers. It's a magical place. Thank you, Carmela, for opening your home to us. I can't wait to get back!

We have traveled extensively in the US and this was by far one of our top stays. My husband, who rarely comments, kept saying that this was a 5 star stay! The property exceeded every expectation and views were unmatched. I couldn’t wait to get up in the mornings just to view the gorgeous sunrises.

The hosts welcomed you and immediately treated you like family. You have as much privacy or interaction as you choose.

The area is beyond words. If you like to hike, golf, bike, or ride horses, this is the place to be. Plus, you are just a few minutes from town and great eating. Sedona is just a few hours away as well. I can’t say enough about our stay at Rio Rancho Verde... except we can’t wait to go back!

Stunning! Absolutely beautiful place to stay, would recommend Rio Rancho Verde to anyone. Hosts were wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer. First place I’ll look at staying next time we are in the area.

Five stars isn’t enough for Rio Rancho Verde and hosts Carmela and Joe. I can’t say enough good things about these folks and the facilities. Don’t miss a chance to stay here with or without your horses! Great riding, beautiful accommodations, top notch hosts!

Carmela’s ranch is as beautiful if not more beautiful than the photos make it out to be. The outside area is equipped with a full kitchen and infinity edge pool. Plenty of seating areas outside as well. The indoor space was clean, with a beautiful bathroom and comfortable beds. Carmela communicated well and responded quickly to all of our questions. She even cooked our dinner one night when the propane tank ran out for the grill. Wonderful people, and wonderful space. A little off the beaten path but you won’t regret staying out in the middle of the desert. We watched beautiful sunrises by the pool, went down to the barn to pet the horses, and explored the near by trials in the Sonoran desert.

Just finished spending the best two weeks of my life at this place. If my life ended today, I would be a truly happy human after having this experience! I stayed in the two bedroom suite which had the most amazing views, a trailer and lastly a bunkhouse. Each place had its own benefit but what made the experience to me was the location, the two amazing hosts, Joe and Carmela and the wonderful friendly guests who also stay there. A big thank you to Joe and Carmela who in my opinion went to the moon and back in time and effort to make this trip a success for me!

My husband & I have been coming to Rio Rancho Verde for 4 years with our horses. We stay in our overcab camper with our two dogs. The ranch is located amongst spectacular scenery & has gorgeous views. It is kept immaculate. The horse stalls are large and shaders were added this year to keep the ponies cooler. The riding in the Sonoran McDowell Preserve is beyond beautiful. The terrain is varied, with gorgeous saguaros and very interesting rock formations as well as sandy washes to trot or run in. Bike riders can also enjoy the Preserve, and everyone we met (not many) were very courteous towards our horses & us. There is also more challenging riding towards Yellow Mountain or a 20 mile ride down to the river. Joe & Carmela are very accommodating, always ready to help or answer questions when needed. I celebrated my birthday there this year, and was pleasantly surprised when Carmela showed up at my door with a cupcake & candle and a bottle of wine to help me celebrate! My husband joined them on their early morning walks with multiple dogs tagging along. Scottsdale is a short drive away if you need anything, but we never want to leave the ranch once we get there. We plan to continue going every year to enjoy this wonderful experience. Thank you Joe & Carmela!
