Oceansides undiscovered paradise for Active Seniors. 2 pools + hot tub and changing rooms right there. Water aerobics, Tai chi, loaded with daily activities. Only minutes from the Ocean and sitting on a high point you'll notice beautiful views. Sit out and watch the sunsets.
Something for everyone here in Oceana.

Stay far away from this place, it is not friendly at all. Quite a few of the residents are bullies and discriminate against their neighbors.
This definitely not a place I would want my mother or father to live in.
The community does not own the property, they have a 99 year lease on the land and they charge each resident in their HOA costs.
Speaking of the HOA, it’s a whopping $604 each month! Some places are infested with termites.

Retirement is supposed to be relaxing and there is no relaxing in this place.
There needs to be an investigation into the HOA’s members.

The HOA NO LONGER enforces any of the rules/regulations since they fired the Management Company a few years ago. No -- we (the HOA or elderly residents)) will have to do the rather simple but IMPORTANT things like repainting the red fire lines as residents have actually worn the red paint off and multiple vehicles park all over causing a major emergency hazard. Someone has actually painted OVER some of the red lines with black paint although one can still see the remnants of red paint and the "no parking" and "fire lane" notifications. Residents also park RIGHT UP TO stop signs making it very difficult to see if it is safe to pull out on the main public road that winds in a big loop through Oceana.

The City of Oceanside has been contacted numerous times about the various problems, especially about the red fire lanes. Their reply is that because these situations are all within the private property of Oceana, the city enforcement cannot do anything about it. So -- they tell us that we need to contact the HOA and I have already described their lackadaisical attitude about doing anything about anything!

PLEASE bring back a property management company that knows what it is doing and make Oceana a pleasant place to live in again -- because unfortunately in reality, it is NOT a pleasant place to live in at this time!

This is very "fixable," and only needs some gumption and some willingness on the part of the elected Board members to DO SOMETHING about the poor environment we are now residing in. OR -- even better-- get a property management company involved SOONER rather than LATER -- like IMMEDIATELY -- to take care of the many problems in the enclave of senior citizens here in Oceana!

PLEASE, please, please -- help us out QUICKLY!!!

I will sign this as

I’m sorry to read the one other comment. I have heard of no other experiences like hers, but we are still new to the community. We have dealt with the HOA for a year now since beginning our search for a condo in Oceana Original. The HOA staff has always been helpful, answering our questions.
We chose Oceana Original because we have 2 dogs. We appreciate that residents follow the pet rules in order to keep this pet-centered community amicable between people and dogs.
I think the new landscape company is doing a terrific job!
We are looking forward to many years of peaceful, active retired living here.

HORRIBLE!! Ive lived here for almost 7 months and am moving out, partially due to Real Estate Agent saying my daughter could live here and cant, but also these people are nosy, rude, and need to mind their own business. The HOA sent a letter stating my daughter had to move her car, accused her of not having sticker and blamed us for some random truck that happened to be parked in front of our house! She moved her car and parked on the street only to have the drivers side of her car smashed in! There has been an SUV parked outside my bathroom window invading my privacy and evidently they are following different rules. And the cherru on top is HOA AS OF 1-1-2020 IS $528.05 MONTH!!! The eaves of my house have extensive termite damage and guess what HOA WONT COVER IT!! Every other HOA covers from studs out, not this place. Find somewhere else to live, youll be happier!!

Residents call it Oceana. This is a vibrant 55 and over community, with tremoundous amount of activities such as, pool exercise classes, line dancing, woodworking shop, a library, various interest clubs like a writer's group, the list goes on. However, due to the pandemic, COVID-19, Oceana follows the CDC and California State Protocols for social distancing, the activities are on a temporary hold. With all of this going on, it is still a great place to live.

I've only lived here for 9 months, the HOA is horrible. If you are outspoken and talk against them, they won't do anything for you. We pay them a salary and they don't do their jobs. I live in Unit 1, and I have a slope outside my house that's caving in and has tarp on it for 3 years. The grassy area outside my front door, is caving in. I have a broken window caused by a tree that they didn't maintain and the roots have damaged my foundation and buckled my windows that broke. They admitted the tree did the damage but haven't fixed it or talk to me about it. They are total morons!!!!
