My grandma was at this facility for about 6 months. The care was alright at first but then my grandma started to decline. They never cut her fingernails, bathed her, or changed her clothes. When I would ask them to focus more on her personal hygiene, they claimed she always declined their efforts. Very lazy staff who are comfortable with leaving the residents uncared for. My grandma also began developing crusted skin lesions all over her entire body and would complain of constant itchiness. My sister and I told the nurses countless times to have the doctor examine her and they said it’s because my grandma never wanted to change her clothes. Fast forward a few months and my grandma was admitted to the hospital for a fall and the ER physicians saw the state of her skin and diagnosed her with advanced scabies. She suffered for 3-4 months and was just barely diagnosed. She could’ve been free from the infection had they taken our concerns seriously. Yet they claimed to have known more than us. Very ashamed of this facility. Don’t send your loved ones here if you’re looking for a positive experience.

This place needs to be shut down. Patients safety and health are put at risk with failure to resolve staffing shortages, resulting in neglect, poor patient care, and compromised patient/employee health. Helen, the administrator nor the DON know how to run this place effectively and pressure/force their employees to stay and work shifts against their will. Management totally lacks compassion for the nurses and the work they put in. They demonstrate poor infection control practices, having nurses assigned to green zone patients and also yellow zone + COVID-19 positive red zone patients as well. In addition, they have their positive employees still work to eradicate their staffing issues. DO NOT HAVE YOUR LOVED ONE OR FAMILY HERE!! This facility is absolutely horrible!

The admissions person is a bit... eccentric. Anyone who has been through hell with how the medical industry treats sick older people should know that when release happens it's often fast and you have to make hasty choices about who to entrust the life of a family member with. The admissions person suggested I drop everything to do a tour and we needed to consult with them to:

A.) Hear their side of the story on the lawsuit the state filed and won for patient neglect leading to death.

B.) Wanted to speak with me regarding all the bad reviews. Who even mentioned reviews? Guilty conscious? If placement did that's a breech of confidentiality as I don't get told why other facilities deny.

C.) Wanted to talk to me about possible "expectations". I explained my expectation was only he'd get the medical care prescribed by his discharging doctor, and that we know he is in a strange place medically right now, but we just want him observed and treated with kindness. Apparently, that was a bit too much for her? She still wanted to talk about it.

D.) Pay for their overpriced non 24/7 caregivers.

I called placement and said I understand doing paperwork today but I have too much going on to do some ridiculous conference and tour, and that yes, she was right, this was my last pick second only to Canyon Oaks, and we just needed to secure him a safe place where he can have his caregivers.

Placement felt if I spoke with admissions about it they'd understand and accommodate. The placement worker was surprised she was handing out ultimatums like that.

Anyone knows with people struggling with a rare infection, having medicine reactions, and feels like the world went crazy knows always having people around they are bonded too makes the people struggling less afraid, and more likely to comply. Not only did she deny the private caregivers (licensed and all), but wanted to overcharge me for hers and then proceeded to say they don't allow 24/7 care. Um, sounds really damn suspicious to me. Scared of another lawsuit maybe?

If they deny something so blatantly in the patients best interest than they are not working for the patient. They're working for themselves.

Holiday Manor, I'm sorry social media has made it so easy for organization transparency but you're not going to catch more flies with strong arming and hiding. You guys knew we were in an unsavory position and that most people in our position would fold and you'd collect the big fat insurance check & do as you please, lording threats over families heads and generally being terrible isn't a good business model.

Do not trust this place. Even if you have to drive to freaking long beach, do it. I've had to talk to so many admissions at many nursing homes and not one of them acted like this one.

Accept responsibility for the fact a woman died on your watch, and show the public you can be trusted. Banishing licensed caregivers and being shady isn't going to do much for you or your poor clients.

My mother was at Holiday Manor for approx, 7 years. I can't say this facility is horrible but I also cannot say this facility is great. We saw a decline in how this facility operated through the years.
They have a new administrator. She seems to care about the facility and improving things.
They really needs to clean house and get rid of some of the worthless, lazy staff they have if they want to improve .. It's this type of staff that can make and even breaks a facility.
When we decided to take mom home, I can say I was pretty much done with this facility. We found ourselves unhappy more and more each day with the care my mom was receiving,. Her regular day CNA was great.You could tell she loved her job and she treated her residents with care. However, the night CNA and Day CNA who covered when moms regular CNA was off, were just lazy lazy lazy..
Several times, mom was found soiled. Her laundry basket was always full of soiled clothes. She would go through 2-3 outfits a day because she was not being changed.
They have some great CNA's who really care about the residents..... But..they also have a lot of lazy CNA's who are just there for a paycheck.
If you put your mom in this facility or any other facility, you have to make sure you are visiting your loved on on a regular bases to ensure they are being cared for correctly.
We decided to take mom home. We always told ourselves we would not let our mom pass away in any facility. We wanted her to pass away in peace, surrounded by her family. At the end, Mom knew she was home. You could see it. She looked so peaceful. The lord took her home in May, 2017.

Absolutely unacceptable to lose someone under your watch!!!! I don't knownwhat excuse you have. This is your responsibility and your being paid very well for it. I just wanna say that I will be showing up to check on my grandmother let just say that if she is not in the most perfect of conditions and has a smile on her face. I promise you you'll regret it. Pls remember you may live in your cozy white worlds but some of us came from the darkest places and still have connections to them. See you shortly!!

My dad has been in this place for a couple of months and the staff has neglected him and not given him his medications that he needs every day or he will die, he has been attacked by his roommate and the staff never showed up. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!

I work as a professional in the healthcare field. I am appalled by the LACK of competency here. Their DEFENSIVE Nature when confronted with a question, their FAILURE in reporting to proper channels when there is a public health issue present, patient NEGLIGENCE. Together with INCOMPETENT MANAGEMENT of patients case notes, INCOMPLETE AND even NON-EXISTANT Patient CARE notes...this is beyond Unacceptable.
Add to the mix, the Inaccurate lists (regarding personal items brought in for clients use), MISINFORMATION or out right CONFLICTING information when it is necessary for a medical decision or STALLING, AND NOT RELEASING your loved one from their facility in a Reasonable Timeframe and Yes, STALLING, "Dropping the Ball" when there is any type of Public Health issue present, GIVING INCORRECT INFORMATION to Public Health when there IS an issue...FAILING TO REPORT TO PUBLIC HEALTH correctly and TIMELY !! WOW...Putting Families and Patients on HOLD, expecting the family to wait for MIXED innaccurate answers ( or NO answers at all), all the while $$. Adding up for them. Good luck finding an ON CALL nurse try to assist you...!! They make you wait for the ONE "SPECIAL Nurse " I Guess who is out SICK..before you can even HOPE to get a STRAIGHT Answer about anything. Absolutely APPAULING.
Get a lawyer on hand before even considering this place...and, GOOD LUCK trying to get your loved one OUT of there without a lawyers assistance. JUST Have One Question For You Folks....HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT? These people are UNCONCIOUS and, Spending Your Money, While Your Loved One Suffers. It would be Horrible To Have To Live With Their Karma.
