I just moved in, and they have a pipe in the hallway that's been leaking all weekend. They said it won't be fixed until Wednesday, that's a lot of water being wasted. We didn't have any hot water for a couple of days because they had to replace the hot water heater, and I hope nothing else goes wrong. 😟

This place has been a place to save a bit of money, but you also need to consider how bad the conditions are living in here. This use to be a senior living place so ever since then they haven’t been able to renovate the building. I have a shared balcony this is already something that is not really good since it is connected to the exit gate so it means who ever opens it during the late night someone can come and go into a private property. If you don’t have money to pay parking you have to be careful and make sure to double lock your door in the back of the apartment. Had my car stolen from there and even cops were telling me that most cars gets stolen back there. We got carpets that are rarely cleaned with stains. People don’t even pick up their dog poop in the back so it smells. INFESTED with roaches!!!! This is something that the whole apartment needed to be fumigated. No matter how many times you clean the apartment it will still come. Health department NEEDS TO BE FILED the WHOLE apartment is filled with it!! There is no escaping it. They also are increasing the rent, so that’s already bad enough. Some laundry machines don’t work so it ends up taking ur coin and you would have to notify the manager to get it reimbursed. They only fix machines not replacing it for a brand new one so it breaks down a lot. I love the place but to be fair, you gotta be able to look at details. It’s good to save money! However, it’s not good if the list I have mention have not been resolved. Please save ur 1.4k for something better that can maintain their apartment. The list goes on.

Update: we were charged for carpet cleaning when we were told not to deep clean by the assistant manager. The manager shrugged off and didn’t think twice to ask her. They did resolves it I ask my husband to speak to them about the lack of communication that’s been happening. So make sure to email them keep documentation. They are always saying one thing and then saying another thing differently.

Over the years I've lived at Southern Highlands the rent has only gone up while services have been decreased. There is no security anymore like there used to be, no activities, and the general look of the place has gone downhill. The carpets are almost always dirty, the patio is grungy, and the patio furniture is rusty with no cushions for the chairs, just steel bars to sit on. The landscaping is awful to nonexistent. The laundry room almost always has broken machines, and the lighting is very bad. If the management can take advantage of you, they will.

The price is unbeatable, that much is true. However, management is terrible. Their is a very real roach problem and some of your neighbors are people you would cross the street to get away from. Oh and all units have a very loud fire alarm that is usually pulled by a neighbor several times a week. In the last 7 days the alarm has been pulled daily.

Some laundry room washers need to be replaced. No pet pooping on the premises needs to be enforced in the outside patio areas. The outside furniture needs to be replaced. Security for the U.S.Mail as well as all delivery services are poor as i have had numerous packages stolen or undelivered.

Laundry room washers and dryers are always broken or don't work properly. Elevator is always dirty, trash shoot area often disgusting and dirty. Hallway carpets old and musty.

It’s hard to find a place like this nowadays. You can’t beat the price. All utilities are included so the rent amount is all you pay. Perfect for couples, students, young adults, newly weds or anyone trying to save a bit of money because you will save some wether you want to or not if you live here. It’s a studio loft with a bathroom, a stove and fridge and a balcony or patio. Pets allowed upon approval & with a pet deposit, not sure about the pet monthly fee. There’s 2 elevators, many stairways on different sides of building. Their indoor. There’s a smoking area and a gated pet area in the back. A laundry room in the underground floor and a remote only accessed underground parking. Entire building is locked and it’s a keyed entry. They have a few setup designs to choose from. The manager Michelle is awesome. Very helpful and nice.

My husband & I lived here for over a year when we first moved to San Diego. We were broke and needed a place to live at that was good priced. This place accepted a certain amount of 21+ years who have no children. We appreciate Michelle's welcoming us to the building. This place was good to live at during that time period of our life. This place has a lot of choices for fast food, gas stations, grocery stores, etc.
