I received the unit dirty and even then they charged me a cleaning fee after moving out of $190. They are also charging carport and Liability insurance after moving out.
The billing team is slow in e-mail responses and haven't solved this. I just want my deposit back of $500 and not unfair charges.
There was an electricity issue the first month which damaged my device and it was due to a poor electric wiring installation with poor insulation.
They don't answer calls and there is no personal assistance in the complex.
I don't recommend this complex at all

I've been living at these apartments since October. Service requests have been answered pretty promptly, and neighbors have pretty much kept to themself. But in the past month, we have been having so many issues with our packages getting stolen. We've even come home, seen our package at our door, go inside to drop our stuff off, and heard someone grab it from our door before we were able to get it ourself. Recently, I had a package delivered that should've been small enough for the parcel boxes at the mailbox. For some reason the postal worker didn't put it in there, so it must've been left outside. When I came to check on it after I got the delivery email, it was gone as well. There needs to be a better way to have our packages delivered in a locked area that isn't just accessible by anyone walking by. The apartments provide no solutions, and just tell us to file a police report and contact USPS.

To the current residents, you are possibly having a good, convenient life now. I had no issue with rat/mice/bed bugs during my one year lease. The squirrels are pretty aggressive though, I encountered one in the small patio(first floor), and it requested food from me, but I got nothing in my hand, so it just climbed through my leg. This is impressive, because while I'm screaming because of that, my upper floor started to yell.
Okay, not important, LOL
Except the squirrels, the strict garbage rules, everything else is fine. The location is the best, I guess that's the most important reasone most of the residents chose here. They do have a well planned enviroment, nice landscape and layout. You will feel nice and happy as long as you don't have any encountering with the house management.
Just like us.
Most of the unpleasant experiences started while we tried to follow the official procedue to sub-lease the left contract to some residents who would like to take it. The lady who claimed to be the manager in 2015, is rude, and a racist. I don't know whethere she's still working there. She's the most rude and unfriendly woman I've ever seen after coming to this country. I guess I'm just lucky, yes, during the 17 years living in this country, birch creek showed me the most ugly one. Even you followed evey requirements, she still can denyyour request based on her mood, and oh yes, while she was saying 'You can't talk to anyone els, I'm the manager', I can't forget her tone. No matter what, if you wanna complete the process, you had nothing else to do, you had to make her satisfied.
That's a nightmare.
Luckily, we found a family of post doctor of stanford, and they just moved to the bay area, would like to stay short time to learn more about the area firstly. They finaly took our apartment of the left months. They had very good first impression of birch creek, just like us, they even thought of moving here after the short term rental ends. Until, the water pipes broke, and flooded the whole apartment. I felt soooo sorry for that. It just happened a few days after they moved in, and they are so reasonable, never blamed that on us. And birch creek never took any loss for them! The wife of the couple even stayed during the moving out check, because they know the condition while we left, and they already knew the housing management, they wanna stopped they requested more unreasonable charge on us!
Sorry the story is wordy.
Hopefully you will have a nice stay at birch creek, as long as you won't have any extra encounterment with their house management. Also, watch out your deposit.

Move here from the east coast. Had an electrical issue the first night. Which could have resulted in serious injuries to my husband if he didn’t know what to do. The place was so gross when we moved in . Smells awful like cat urine in the whole apartment. Spent a $200 in cleaning supplies. Would not recommend it. So very disappointed ☹️

Clean and pleasant living! I just renewed here as I really like the location and the common area maintenance. It is an older building with many issues, like the hot water runs out and some of the balconies are in poor condition. But overall the landscaping is quite pretty and maintenance crew are very nice.

True emergency maintenance (sewer backing up) is prompt, but non emergency maintenance is very slow (months to check out something in the summer). It's a skeleton crew basically, UDR tries to keep as few staff on site as possible.

Leasing was really annoying. Everything is with a central leasing office so there's no face to face and they are slow with email but expect you to reply quickly. They requested a photo of my social security card, which wasn't listed on the website as needed, and was really hard to dig up as almost no one asks for them anymore.

My favorite pro is just about living in an older apartment in Mountain View in general. Rent Stabilization! It's so nice to know my rent won't suddenly go up by an obscene amount at renewal, which lets me be confident I can live here longer term.

I pay about 3k a month for a 1br 750sqft.

Birch Creek is a wonderful apartment community! I have lived here for over a year and can attest to the quality and value of this apartment complex.

My favorite part about this place is the greenery, impeccably maintained throughout the year and attracts squirrels, ducks and various birds which you can hear chirping during the day. The trees are beautiful and there’s a creek that flows through the property.

The apartments themselves are designed and constructed well. The kitchen is well equipped, the living room is incredibly spacious and the bedrooms are quite a nice size as well. Each apartment also comes with a fairly large balcony. The only downside is the apartments do not have air conditioning, only heating - so expect to need a portable air conditioner or the like during the summer months.

In terms of management, I have been pleased with the quality of service and level of responsiveness to any concerns. Maintenance requests can be conveniently submitted through a mobile app, and are addressed pretty quickly.

Overall, this is a great place to live. I am posting this review because all the negatives ones almost stopped me from living here!

The apartment is alright. But the maintenance isn't good. My dishwasher is clogged for the 4th time in 3 months. It's now getting clogged after 2 washes. The team is cutting cost by not having anyone in leasing office during working hours and a maintenance that is not on standby and ready to fix on same day. Please consider other apartments when renting

Update - while the maintenance took some additional time, my dishwasher was replaced which had no issues. Upgrading rating

Update #2 - shower plug isn't working. It's cold and I can't take a shower. Maintenence team said it doesn't qualify as emergency. Downgraded rating

I've filled out their application, and I got spammed with text. They automate their leasing process to another country, I think the Philippines. I've even come in person, and there is literally no one working. I have to virtually tour myself. It's so impersonal, and I have no way of asking extra questions, etc. They also list they have a 1 bedroom 1 bath and now after I've come all this way they say they actually only have 2 bedrooms. This apartment complex seems nice, but trying to rent is impossible and their listings aren't correct.
