I've lived here a semester, and overall it's a great dorm. The RA staff are amazing, and it has by far the best location on campus.

Location: Hallet is right across from the best dining hall on campus, the C4C, and backs right up to the engineering quad. It's about a 1 minute walk from Farrand Field too. Mail is sent to the UPS store in Kittridge, which is about a 3-5 minute walk.

Rooms: Hallet has been recently renovated and has wooden floors in the rooms and new comfy desk chairs (pro tip: there's a lever in the back, if you pull it you can lift the chair off the base and set it on the ground where it works as a rocking chair). There is 30 inches of empty space between the floor and bottom of the bed, so there's a lot of storage space underneath them; don't get bed risers. If you're on the shorter side, you may want a step stool for getting onto the bed. All rooms have a small fridge, little freezer, and a microwave. Above each bed there is a bulletin board; bring some push pins if you want to decorate. Doors have a whiteboard and small bulletin board, so I'd recommend bringing a set of dry erase markers.

Closets: Closets are approximately 4.5 feet wide and 2.5 feet deep (don't quote me on this, it's an estimate from memory). They have one shelf up high and a bar to put hangers on. If you have a lot of stuff, a set of plastic drawers may help you with organization and would fit easily in the closet. The closets don't close so if you want privacy I would recommend buying a shower curtain and rod.

Laundry: There is one laundry room for the building, located on the first floor. I have never had a problem finding an open laundry machine. Washers and dryers cost $1.25 each, which can be paid in quarters or campus cash loaded on your student ID (note: campus cash is different from munch money. A lot of students didn't realize that and had trouble doing laundry for the first couple weeks).

Bathrooms/showers: Bathrooms and showers were always clean in my experience, and have solid floor to ceiling doors which lock securely. No complaints there.

Extras: There are couches, a TV, a pool table, a ping-pong table, a drink vending machine, and a snack vending machine in the lobby. Vending machines do not accept Munch Money or campus cash. There are also two conference/study rooms which can be used as long as there isn't a meeting in progress. One has a projector with HDMI hookups which is a blast for Mario Kart and Smash Bros game nights.

Complaints: This is one of the few dorms on campus with no air conditioning and it gets *hot*. It is definitely worth bringing a fan. The heating system is also old and so your winter room temperature is luck of the draw. There are two "tester rooms" per wing per floor which have the temperature sensor deciding room temperature for everyone else. If the people in these rooms have a space heater everyone will freeze, if they open their window everyone will cook. I took one star off for the heating/AC situation.

Suitable living for students. Not the worst place you could stay on campus.
